The refrigerant gas containing oil in aerosol form exported from the compressor enters into the oil separator. The oil contained within the refrigerant gas is intercepted when it passes through the inlet metal web and the outlet metal web, and then the shell wall of the oil separator. The oil particles collide with one another, forming heavier oil particles. These heavier oil particles eventually drop and hit the wall of the oil separator, where the final separation effect occurs. Isolated droplets collect at the bottom of the oil separator, where a float-operated needle valve returns the oil back to the crankcase or oil reservoir.
